At least 106,000 people globally have died from COVID-19, as the illness is officially known, while more than 1,699,000 infections have been confirmed in at least 213 countries and territories, according to the World Health Organization. Due to the corona virus outbreaks major sporting events have been cancelled or postponed.

Olympic Games

The International Olympic Committee and Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe have postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics games to 23rd July 2021.

Cricket

The start of the Indian Premier League T20 tournament was postponed until April 15.

England’s two-match test series in Sri Lanka scheduled to start on March 19 was postponed.

Pakistan Super League matches in Karachi will be played with no spectators in the stadium.

The men’s Cricket World Cup Challenge League A, has been postponed.

Australia’s test tour of Bangladesh in June has been postponed..

Athletics

The World Athletics Championships scheduled to take place in Oregon in August 2021 have postponed to July 2022 because of the Olympics games new schedule.

The World Athletics Indoor Championships, scheduled to take place in March 2020, have been pushed back to 2021.

Marathons

The Boston Marathon, scheduled for April 4, have been postponed to September 14, 2020.

The London Marathon, scheduled to take place on April 26, has been postponed until October 4.

The Tokyo Marathon, which normally attracts more than 250,000 participants, was limited to only 200 elite runners.

Popular Amsterdam, Paris and Barcelona marathons have been postponed.

Football

The CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football) Nations League Finals, scheduled to take place in June, have been postponed.

Russian Football Union agreed to immediately suspend all competitions until April 10.

Top-flight Bundesliga scheduled to take place in Germany in 13 March 2020 has been postponed.

African Champions League, scheduled for April 4, has been postponed.

The African Nations Championship 2020 soccer tournament scheduled for April in Cameroon has been postponed until further notice.

South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) said that the 12-team tournament has been postponed until next year.

UEFA suspended all Champions League and Europa League matches “until further notice”.

FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation have decided to postpone the matches.

In England, all elite football matches have been suspended until at least April 30.

Asian Champions League matches have been postponed.

The three divisions of England’s National League have also been suspended until further notice.

An exhibition match between Mexico and Colombia scheduled to take place in Denver in May 2020, has been cancelled.

Tennis

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) decided to postpone more than 850 tournaments across all its circuits.

The 2020 Wimbledon tennis championships have been cancelled.

The professional tennis season has been suspended through June 7, 2020.

The French Open, The Xi’an Open and Kunming Open have been postponed.

Formula 1

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix has been suspended until at least June 07.

The Bahrain Grand Prix, Canadian Grand Prix, The Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai and the Vietnam Grand Prix have been postponed.

Races in the Netherlands, Spain and Monaco in May have all been postponed.

Racing

The French MotoGP scheduled to take place in May 2020 have been pushed back.

The Indianapolis 500 scheduled for May 24 has been postponed until August 23.

Table tennis

The world championships in Busan, South Korea, have been suspended until at least June.

Rugby

The Singapore and Hong Kong legs of the World Rugby Sevens Series have been to October 2020.

The women’s Six Nations game between Scotland and France was suspended.

Basketball

The National Basketball Association (NBA) said that they have decided to postpone the season until further notice.

The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) also suspended the 2020 regular season.

Boxing

The world boxing heavyweight title fight between Briton Anthony Joshua and the IBF’s mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev

of Bulgaria scheduled to take place in June 2020 has been pushed back to end of the year.

MotoGP

The Thailand race and The Spanish Grand Prix scheduled for March 22 and May 3 respectively, have been postponed.

Golf

The 2020 Masters Tournament has been postponed and now expected to take place on September 14.

The Honda LPGA Thailand event, Scandinavian Mixed tournament in Stockholm and the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore have been cancelled.

The Maybank Championship in Kuala Lumpur, the China Open, The Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, The Trophee Hassan II in

Morocco and The Evian Masters women’s golf tournament have been postponed.

Cycling

Paris-Roubaix and Liege-Bastogne-Liege cycling races have been postponed.

The Tour of Flanders and Milan-Sanremo have also been suspended until further notice.

The Giro d’Italia scheduled for May 9 in Budapest has been postponed.
